Diversity MemphisCommon Threads
Monday November 2, 2009, Carolyn Head, Cindy Sakaan, Zach Sakaan and Jalisa Joyner conducted the Common Threads program for the Leadership Collierville youth. Over twenty students from Collierville area schools participated in this interactive program aimed at breaking down stereotypes and highlighting our individual uniqueness. This is a program we have done for the last four years as Diversity Memphis and one we always enjoy.
Multicultural Memphis Talks
Tuesday October 27, 2009, Diversity Memphis and Leadership Memphis presented the third Multicultural Memphis Breakfast with a focus on Communities of Faith. Rabbi Micah Greenstein spoke about the importance of the Communities of Faith and the work they do in our city. If you would be interested in having someone from Diversity Memphis talk with your group please let us know by contacting us at 405.9555 or through the website at contact us! A number of different speakers are available. Multi-faith Dialogue
Diversity Memphis works with a broad spectrum of our faith communities' leaders and members to design programs that provide information, education and the opportunity to participate in interactive learning. Through social, prayerful, powerful exchanges we learn about each other and the faith communities in our city. We examine the ties that bind us together and the differences that make us unique FreeLand Youth Camp
Our youth camp, named after long time supporter Dennis Freeland, brings together high school students from diverse backgrounds to provide opportunities for leadership, learning and social engagement. We believe that children are our future and by broadening their horizons we can change our world. Programs designed for weekends, a weeklong camp, and special day and evening gatherings introduce delegates to a unique experience. Social networks are established, prejudices examined, and the opportunity to create a land free from bias, bigotry and racism becomes a reality. Adult Programs
Programs designed to discuss sensitive subjects such as Disparities in Healthcare, workplace issues and examination of those common threads that bind us together are designed and implemented following extensive discussion.
