Founders Update, December

On the heels of Thanksgiving, we pause to give thanks for all the many people, from all faiths, races and differing cultural backgrounds, who have worked together as friends and neighbors, to make Diversity Memphis an important part of what is right in Memphis. Activities this year that have brought Memphians from different walks of life together include:

• The Humanitarian Awards Dinner (May 26th at the Esplanade in Cordova) was an inspiring success, once again.

• The FreeLand Youth Camp returned to its overnight format and was held at First Congregational Church in Midtown from June 27th to July 1st.

• The Sixth Annual Diversity Memphis Walk, was held for the first time in November (Sunday, the 13th). The 5K Walk was held in honor of Father Joe Tagg, who was our board chair the year of the first walk.

Thank you for helping us carry out our mission: Established in 2005, Diversity Memphis is a human relations organization dedicated to bringing people together regardless of their cultural, religious or racial differences. Diversity Memphis promotes tolerance and respect for all with the hope that greater understanding and acceptance of one another will make each of us stronger and lead our city in becoming a better place for everyone.
