Prayers for Peace
Join us as we participate in;
History of the Monlan Chenmo: World Peace Prayers in Bodhgaya
The Nyingma Monlam Chenmo has been held annually in Bodhgaya since 1989. Bodhgaya is the place where Shakyamuni Buddha attained enlightenment and is the most sacred and holy place of pilgrimage for all Buddhists. Currently over 1600 monasteries are registered and the ceremonies are attended by over 10,000 Tulkus, Khenpos, monks, nuns, and vajrayana practitioners as well as by lay people from all over the world. This gathering offers 10 days of prayers for World Peace and the liberation of all sentient beings.
January 24, 2010 from 3-5 PM we will be holding a special welcoming of members of the greater religious community of Memphis. The practices will be the same as the nightly service but with an in depth explanation. This would be a good time to invite interested friends and neighbors.
